John Williams



John was admitted in 1996 and his practice focuses on general commercial law, property law, estates and succession planning, companies and trusts.  He joined Lane Buck and Higgins originally in our Narrogin office where he developed expertise advising farmers in particular in relation to their estates and succession.  In 2016 he moved to Busselton to take over Jonathan Meyer’s practice including advising pharmacists in relation to their rights, entitlements and obligations under the Pharmacy Act.


John originally started legal practice in South Australia working generally in commercial and property law.  Later he developed experience in other Australian jurisdictions when he worked as a senior executive with the Australian Government Solicitor (AGS).  At AGS he was responsible for large government procurements and projects including the Commonwealth government bank funding guarantee during the global financial crisis.  His work there lead to him being appointed adviser to the Office of the State Solicitor in Papua New Guinea where he worked on domestic and international commercial matters and developing the capabilities of that Office.


John has moved with his young family to Busselton which he intends making their home.

Shelley Acham


Shelley has been practicing as a General Lawyer for the past eleven years previously in Fremantle and now in Busselton.  She specializes in Wills, Powers of Attorney & Guardianship, State Administrative Tribunal applications, Probate and Estate Administration and Binding Financial Agreements.


Her special interest is in Aged Care law as she firmly believes the elderly needs to plan their affairs as well as protect themselves. Shelley currently attends Novacare Lifestyle Village monthly as well as servicing clients at William Carey Baptist Care and other aged care institutions in Busselton. She loves the Busselton community spirit and involves herself in all sports and outdoor activities particularly swimming. She also enjoys the beautiful Nature as well as the fine wines available in the south west.

Elizabeth Nicholson

Family Lawyer

Elizabeth practices in predominately family law, but is able to take a range of instructions. Originally from Victoria, Elizabeth has worked as a solicitor for many years in the South West region of WA. As a qualified Mediator as well as many years of experience in law, Elizabeth is able to assist clients through the difficult and complex area of family law in a practicable and effective manner in both contentious and non-contentious matters. In her spare time, Elizabeth breeds performance horses and been involved in dressage.

Marise Davies

Legal Secretary

Marise has been a legal secretary for 32 years initially working for a large law firm in Perth city until moving to Busselton 17 years ago. Marise started with Lane Buck & Higgins when we acquired Jon Meyer’s firm were she has worked since 2000. Hobbies – beach walking.

Rylee Evans

Legal Secretary

Rylee began working at Lane Buck and Higgins in 2019.  She has been working in legal administration for over 15 years covering a range of areas of law during that time.  She lives in Busselton with her family and enjoys exploring the south west and camping with her family.

Claire Howes

Legal Administration

Claire is a new addition to Lane Buck & Higgins. She has recently graduated from school and is learning about all the different areas’ law has to offer. In her spare time Claire likes to go on horse-riding in the forests and spend time on the farm.
